Design as a transformative axis
In 2013, with the aim of positioning design as a future strategy, the Global Project was created, a process of complete redesign for the entire product range and a turning point for SORALUCE, as it redefined the way design was understood within the company. The Global Project transformed the SORALUCE experience, from functionality, ergonomics and safety to its visual identity, creating a unique formal language and a more intuitive and coherent interaction with the user.
This approach resulted in the FXR model, the development of which won the Red Dot Award 2016, one of the most prestigious international awards in the field of industrial design. In the words of Ibón Román, Head of Industrial Design: «Industrial design is not a decorative element. It is a tool for improving precision, safety and the relationship between the person and the machine. The Red Dot Award was the logical consequence of a vision that was born with the Global Project.»
The SORALUCE Campus: architecture, culture and technology in the same language
In 2020, the SORALUCE Campus project begins to take shape, which can be interpreted as an architectural extension of the Global Project. The campus is not just a collection of buildings, but an ecosystem for learning, experimenting, interacting with customers and sharing knowledge. Here, clear synergies are felt between the exterior and the interior, the urban and the productive, the technological and the cultural. Inside, areas for training, demonstrations and co-creation extend the logic of the Global Project: intuitive pathways, a coherent aesthetic, visual ergonomics, and an atmosphere that conveys openness and technological excellence.
Ibon Roman summarises it thus: «The campus had to speak the same language as our machines: precision, integration, order. But it also had to speak the language of the neighbourhood, of the river, of the cycle path, of the history of the Osintxu district. We didn’t want a series of isolated buildings, but a place that belonged to the surroundings.»

A coherent narrative: design, technology and community
SORALUCE’s new course—Global Project, Dot Award 2016 Network, Campus and SUMMIT—forms a strong narrative, based on three pillars:
- Avant-garde technology, in the service of productivity and precision.
- Design, as the thread running from the machine to architecture.
- Cooperative commitment, with a company that understands its success is linked to the well-being of its environment.
Osintxu Bizi: revitalising the neighbourhood from industry
This vision is reflected in the Osintxu Bizi project. It is an initiative to revitalise the town and its community, in which SORALUCE actively participates to promote the following:
- Improving the public space to make it more accessible and pleasant.
- The revitalisation of the community, by strengthening the community network.
- The link between the company and the neighbourhood, fostering an open and collaborative relationship.
The Osintxu neighbourhood is not just a productive area; it is a place to live and a place for collective memory. As Rafa Idigoras, General Manager of SORALUCE, says: «We cannot understand the company without the neighbourhood. Osintxu has given us our identity for more than sixty years, and it is now our turn to help it with its future.»
Global projects, the 2016 Red Dot Award, the SORALUCE Campus, SUMMIT, the Osintxu Bizi project and the campus sculptures that blend culture and industry all form part of the same history: the story of a cooperative that sees design as a strategy, technology as a driving force and the local area as an ally.
